Goju-Ryu
is a powerful yet elegant style combining effective and practical self-defense with
numerous other benefits, including improved stamina, balance, and flexibility
combined with renewed self-confidence and sense of well being.
For serious athletes, it can be excellent cross-training.

Seiichi Fujiwara Hanshi Instructing
The intention of
Seiwakai of Texas is to pass on the Goju-Ryu karate of both Shuji
Tasaki and Chojun
Miyagi without altering or changing it simply to fit the precept of
modern sport. The goal of both men's style of Goju-Ryu was to not only teach
effective self-defense, but to also improve the character of the practitioner
through development of personal discipline, strong work habits, and a sense of community.
Goju-Ryu
translates as "the way of hard and gentle." Miyagi
Sensei always believed his karate practitioners should hone a hard body and
tough spirit. At the same time they should be able to interact with others in a
gentle fashion that contributes to the overall good of society. In
practice, Goju-Ryu utilizes not only the hard and direct linear power of karate,
but also the flowing, circular and often indirect movements of the White Crane style of Chinese kung-fu which
is a major influence of
the style.
Classes are egalitarian in
nature - men and women do equally well in our art.
The expectations and requirements are the same for every student.
We are as interested in the quality of energy as with its force.
Come join us and enjoy a training that conditions both the body and mind!
